Back pain after HF diagnosis

Evening everyone.

6 weeks on from leaving hospital with HF And AF I am feeling more positive and the lifestyle changes I'm making are having a positive effect.

But things have definitely changed and I am getting a pain across my back when playing golf after about 1 1/2 hours of fairly light exercise, does anyone else get this pain as I am not sure whether to try and push through this, it does go after rest but makes me feel like I can really exercise as regularly as I want or should, I want to swim as well but not sure if that's a good idea?

Just needed to share this

Thanks

Do you have a cardiac nurse you can ask about the pain? I have different conditions to yours so not sure I have much to offer beyond what my cardiologist and GP both told me - stop if pain and ring the cardiac nurse to check before doing the exercise that brought on that specific pain.

I have: angina, recurrent pericarditis, pericardial effusion, and Rheumatic Heart Syndrome with 'trivial' aortic valve scarring. So far my exercise is very light compared to your 'light', lol, good on you for being out there 1+hours on the golf course! I celebrated yesterday after managing to walk 0.8m, plus: some light housework, five minutes on the exercise bike and another five on the mini-rowing machine. Felt like a lady Rocky after all that:) :)

Sounds like you are doing great with your own workouts (apart from the housework) I've got more excuses than ever not to do that.

I did see thr cardio nurse yesterday and she didn't really seem concerned about the back pain unless it leaves me breathless which it doesn't, I never had this before the diagnosis so it must be related although maybe the meds cause it as well?

Walking was a struggle when I first came out of hospital but that's improving every week, I suppose I just have to respect what my body is telling me and be more aware, I've put my name down for a cardio rehab course so that will probably give me more of an idea of what I can and cant do. Being patient is not one of my strong points

Keep going Rocky

Perhaps before you went into hospital you'd unconsciously been adjusting motion to accommodate your condition - I know I did that, and once it was all sorted muscles I'd not worked in a long time went into shock at my asking them to get back on a normal use routine.

And I will definitely keep up the exercise now - the muscle aches are easing and I'm able to add a little more every day. Btw, housework counts, especially vacuuming even a small house. My husband is happy - he loves I'm one of those ladies who thinks she's the only person who can get the washing up done right:)
