Unknown cause of heart attack

In February I had a stemi heart attack in my lad, they removed a massive bloodclot and popped in a stent, since feb I’ve had an echo, a 24 hour Holter monitor, a stress echo and a cardiac mri, had all my results today and was told that they carnt find where the bloodclot came from, cardiologist said something has definitely caused it but artery’s, heart etc are all normal. i am male, don’t smoke or drink, exercise regularly, eat a half healthy diet and was 39 when it happened, now I’m taking all my heart medication should I be worried about it happening again or not?, Thanks👍🏻

Your blood work was all ok? You don't have blood clotting disorder?

You must be in blood thinners?

Thanks for the reply, Cardiologist didn’t mention my bloods, so I assumed he didn’t think it was anything to do with that, I’m on thinners now with my heart meds

Change from a half healthy diet to a full healthy one. Exercise more and get on with life. Worrying about the next one which might never happen will just cause stress and that won't help. I am not down playing it but you have to find a way to move on. It's the hardest thing we all encounter.

Thanks for the reply, yes mate your right, I’ve really tried to clean up my diet but it’s so hard to not eat any junk food, it tastes so good, been doing cardiac rehab on and off but life keeps getting in the way, walking loads though, I’ve noticed stress actually hurts my chest since my HA, where anxiety/stress just felt uncomfortable before, I’m going to relax and try to move on with my life, at least I know exactly what a HA feels like now, In case it happens again

Try Mindfulness for the stress and anxiety. Really works for me. Good luck

Another possible cause of your heart attack may be Myocardial infarction non obstructive coronary arteries MINOCA.

Thought to be responsible for about 6% of heart attacks

Prof John Beltrame in Australia is researching this rare type of heart attack.

Common causes thought to be

'coronary artery spasm, coronary microvascular dysfunction, plaque disruption, spontaneous coronary thrombosis/emboli, and coronary dissection; myocardial disorders, including myocarditis, takotsubo cardiomyopathy, and other cardiomyopathies; and noncardiac causes, for example, pulmonary embolism.'

You have had some great advice from the others already. It is understandable to feel anxious following such an experience and bewildering for both you and your Cardiologist.

Good luck.

Thanks for sharing the link 🙂 I had what they called a MONICA in April of this year. Had an angiogram the following day after my HA as my triponin level was 7,400 but no blockages found. Had all the other usual tests and theyve seen muscle bridging thats preventing a smooth blood flow to my heart but nothing else apart from permanent muscle damage down the left side. After a 5 month wait( covid delay) I'm finally having my cardio MRI next week. Not sure if they can do anything other than tablets ..... scary stuff as i was a 40+ mile a time cyclist and am only 52.
