Was heavy drinker, after my 16 year old son died,I went on holiday a year later and drank Harvey the 2 wks I was there, I ended up taking a heart attack, that's was in 2008 things went well for few years of course still drinking Harvey, 2013 I took heart failure and 10 wks took another heart failure, due to drink, now I have an icd defib implant

Sorry for the loss of your son, I can only imagine how difficult this would have been. Life can be cruel but it can also be kind, so in life we have to take whatever comes and try our best to keep going. Sounds like you had a rough time, but your still here alive and breathing to that's a good thing. I'm sure the ICD gives you a little reassurance of having protection should you need it. Hopefully you can live life to the fullest and enjoy it as much as you can.

I'm so sorry, that is such a cruel and painful loss.

Unfortunately many people are unaware that heavy drinking damages the heart (alcoholic cadiomyopathy), but on the other hand giving up alcohol can lead to a recovery of heart function. Difficult, but worth it

Big hug. Try and stay off alcohol as it won’t help. The loss of your son must have been dreadful. I can’t imagine the mental anguish you must have suffered . But stay strong .
