Hi ,when l was in Canada a few years back they had just stopped calling it Rapeseed for obvious reasons and had changed the name to Canola oil...
It is beneficial for the heart as it reduces cholesterol levels ....
Carol.
My understanding is that it is no more beneficial than olive oil or any other plant derived oil.
I dislike it as now the yellow fields are appearing my hay fever starts coming on. Before its advent I never suffered!
Me too & I'm suffering badly!! I live in a rural area so its everywhere, though the worse was when it was planted in the field opposite my house. Years later we still get the odd few straggly bits growing!! Hmm, now I'm wondering if it's worth trying the rapeseed to see if it helps my hay fever, bi5 like locally produced honey is supposed to!!
It's not good for you it's just less harmful than others , beneficial foods can be found but moderation is the thing that is most healthy ,we need a bit of roughage as well as the clean foods
My home which is off the grid a bit and I’m 5 miles from the nearest shop, is surrounded by fields of the stuff the yellow flower of the Rapeseed plant looks so beautiful until the farmers harvest it in August time and the plant grows between 6-7ft tall, sometimes hiding the tractors as they go along the field harvesting this stuff. But as for its benefits, I only use olive oil and butter. I don’t deep fry anything (chips n stuff).
Hi
I use Rice Bran oil as there is NO cholesterol in it. There is no taste . Morrisons sell it. A bit more exspensive than some oils but as I don't use much it is OK It is on the shelves with all the other oils.
Regards
I will not use if a dear go into a field of rape seed and eats it its so toxic it poisons them and they go blind. They will only eat it when starving .
Funny you say deer, I was driving back from my London home other night and around midnight driving through the single track roads near my home and I saw a young deer (fawn, is it) walking along the road and fields that are full of Rapeseed and obviously got freaked out by my headlights. First I’ve ever seen one around here and didn’t know about the poisoning it does to deer.
Thanks, guys I am 48 and since using this oil, I feel great looks even better than I used to look, so thank you for your knowledge
Olive oil is better, apart from high temp frying
