I had my Bubble Study. I have type 2 Bicuspid Aortic Valve, with visible Raphe. Fused RCC and NCC. Not quite sure what that means? But the letter from Cardiologist says, 'She does not have functionally Significant Bicuspid Aortic Valve'. So does that mean its not working properly? I have got to go back for a follow-up transthoracic echo in a years time.
Regards Dee.

Dee, strange wording. I would personally have thought "functionally significant" meant it was working OK, and if it wasn't the report would say it is deficient in some way. Suggest you ask, perhaps by phoning the Cardiologist's Secretary to ask him to clarify.
Generally, this site might help? drsvenkatesan.com/2011/09/2... Visible raphe means the bicuspid occured due to two of the leaflets of a tricuspid fusing or more likely not dividing (during foetal formation). The two leaflets fused were RCC and NCC, i.e. the Right and the Non-Coronary cusps. Type 2 = "Second most common" on that page
One risk not mentioned there is that a bicuspid valve is significantly associated with aortic aneurysm and possible dissection and you should make sure your doctor checks the ascending aorta as well.
