I've almost learned to live with it until I have these episodes.
I go to work early most days..5am and if it's cold or icy I get classic chest pain within minutes..Funny in a way because I was a ground worker and would have just my vest on in the winter..so the cold never touched me..Now since my stent procedure I get these attacks in the cold and when emotional or fatigued
classic micro vascular Angina.
But getting my cardiologist to sit up and bloody listen is a whole new ball game.
I'm angry and frustrated at the impact of this..But I have young kids so can't just stop working.
I'm going to try and get referred to a specialist like milk fairy has explained to me in the past.
Today was a bad episode.
It's calmed down now..But if it gets worse I will be calling 999 don't worry
You sound like my equal😅😅 And a top bloke by the sounds of it.
I'm going through exactly the same things as you and find it so bloody frustrating.
Why is that it has all got worse since the stent? That's what I want to know! But the cardiologists will never say a thing..Yes I've had a blocked artery stented. But I'm now weaker..more fatigued and have to put up with this pain everyday. None of which I had before..Yes I hear people shouting at me now...but your life was saved thanks to the stent procedure..Yes it probably was...But it fees like I've now jumped out of the fire and into the frying pan...so not such a good outcome.
So what did Milk fairy suggest to you Gunsmoke? Anything helpful? And are you looking into MVA?
Do you have MVA and CAS? Its's a bugger deciding if it's just a bad attack or a heart attack?! If you went to A&E everytime it's bad, you would spend alot of time there and frankly it's stressful which doesn't help!
I have had it since 2011 no heart issues before that but had a heart attack from severe spasms so yes you do need to take them seriously. That said I stay at home most of the time myself and only go if I think it's a heart attack but not easy to tell. I have a good Cardiologist the only one at my hospital who seems to understand it so sometimes you gotta kiss a few frogs along the way to find a good one! My meds are looked at all the time Ranexa didn't work for me but for others it's been good for them. I have Nicorandil, Diltiazem, Isosorbide, (specific beta blocker for Long QT), Lansoprazole to protect the stomache and help due to all the meds I'm on. GTN I have learned to take early on rather than wait for the spasms to get going but I do one spray at a time. I also try to sit down and try to meditate or deep breathe and relax as much as possible. I have Dihydrocodeine from the Cardiologist which I have on a bad attack as its opiates and I have morphine from the GP. I think Milkfairy has oxygen but it's all individual and very much up to your Consultant. I am sure that she will pop up but she gives lots of good info. Oh by the way mine did an admission plan on how to treat me (letter to carry and something on the hospital system).
I have just signed myself up for another meditation course that lasts 7 weeks in the evenings. I have done it before and it has helped me to de stress and learned how to say no to things as its not just meditating. It's a crap disease and you need to try different meds that suit you as we are all different and look at other ways to support yourself. For instance I ran around looking after everyone but myself even the dog had a higher priority than me. I have learned to pace myself (sometimes mess it up) and try to be realistic about what is possible nowadays. I say no to somethings now as I almost never said no even if it was inconvenient. I feel wiped out for a few days after a bad one. Do you take any supplements?
Be kind to yourself and advocate for yourself ask Cardiologists outright if they have an interest in it if not then do they know someone else. Good luck feel better
Magnesium and Coenzyme Q10 and often a mutlivitamin (to help cramp), I am in the process of reading The Sinatra Solution Metabolic Cardiology its basically looking at the cells. I was recommended it by another person on this site with MVD and it is very interesting although not a bedtime read! I might be reviewing as he advocates the first two I stated plus some others. It seems to make sense and doesn't seem to be mumbo jumbo but you can always check with your Cardiologist. My son is doing a Phd in circadian rythmns in cells within the body (cannot remember the proper titles) he said that there is alot of research on cells. For instance how timing of taking medication can be different for individuals depending on your body clock and efficacy.
Might be good to check your vitamin levels etc when they do any blood tests to make sure that you aren't defficient. If you take statins then usually CoQ10 is recommended anyway by alot of sources. You should always maybe discuss it with the pharmacist, GP or Cardiologist.
Sounds like a physically demanding job you waking up at 5am to brace the cold. I used to do some care work and it was completely the wrong job for me , puffing on nitro while making her lunch and making her bed. I am hoping to find something not physically demanding when I am better.
