Hi I’m new to the page I suffer from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which was undiagnosed until 7 years ago. Unfortunately I have passed this on to my 4 children. My eldest son survived a cardiac arrest 7 years ago at age 17 and that was how we all became diagnosed, my twins were also effected 5 years ago my daughter died suddenly during dance class aged 15, and 8 months ago her surviving twin brother aged 20 received a heart transplant.life has been a twisty road and I am weighed down with guilt how do others cope with feelings of guilt?

Hello, firstly I should like to offer my sympathy for your situation and the losses your family has endured. I’m afraid I can’t answer your question other than to say it’s not your fault. I don’t mean that in a trite or patronising way and I hope it doesn’t come across like that. Also, please seek counselling. The BHF nurses or Cardiomyopathy UK nurses will be able to guide you further, as should your GP or perhaps your employer has an Employee Assistance Programme? I’m sure others on here will be along to offer support too. Best wishes.

Hello I have been diagnosed with genetic HTCM (Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy) last year at the age of 75 which is worrying that it has taken so long. I have had Atrial Fibrillation from 1999 and also now have a pacemaker due to a low pulse.

The HTCM was a shock as no symptoms whatever they are
