i had a problem with a kidney stone about 5 weeks ago and had to be admitted to hospital overnight.. my gfr before this happened was 45 but blood test taken at hospital showed it had fallen to 39.. gp repeated blood test on Wednesday and gfr still sits st 39.. now worried that any future problems with kidney stones could result in gfr falling even further.. Consultant Urologist in hospital said CT scan showed badly bruised kidney and several smaller calcifications.. terrified that any further problems with stones could cause my gfr to drop even further

Hey, i can feel your high level of anxiety all the way over here. Please try to relax. Getting this upset can't be good for you.
I found a website that may help you to prevent future kidney stones:
kidney.org/atoz/content/kid...
Best wishes. I have stage 3 kidney disease, too.
To be practical about this, your gfr only goes one way as you age. So many factors can effect it (upset tummy, colds, flu, infections) and not everything is preventable. It's not good for you go be worrying about all the things that could affect them - better to look after yourself generally with good low salt diet, management of blood pressure and exercise. It's important you know and understand your numbers as this gives you control over your treatment.
Kidney problems are common partners of heart issues, not least because many of the medications we take for our hearts simply wipe out your kidneys.
presently taking 7 pills a day for cholesterol, hypertension and angina.. asked my gp a few months ago if there was any i could stop taking but she had a good look at them and said no.. so whether any of the medication is having an impact it seems i can’t afford to stop taking it anyway lol.. had a phone call from gp this morning.. have to go for a repeat blood test beginning of January, hopefully there might be a wee improvement 👍
Pills, Pills and more Pills My GP told me none of them will make you Better, just Managing your Situation to try to stop you Deteriorating !!!
