Mouth Problems mainly at night

Hi all.

Has anyone suffered from mouth issues while taking there meds.

My issue has only started in the last couple of weeks, so its difficult to pin point at present. I have been on my combination of meds aprox 4 weeks now.

I wake up with mouth like the bottom of a bird cadge, its rough and when I brush my teeth, I bleed, But I cant see where from ? it seems to be all over. The rest of the day I'm fine, apart from my teeth feel like they are on edge, and my taste buds have really changed, everything taste so bland now, Then just before going to bed, I brush again, and I bleed, but only a very small amount, I use a very expensive tooth paste and Corsodyl mouth wash, Electric tooth brush, Never had this problem before my heart attack and stents, I'm sure its a side effect from one of my medication, but no idea which one. Ramipril, Bisoprolol, ticagrelor, aspirin, atorvastatin.

I think its my atorvastatin as I only take this at night, any one else get this problem

Hello Mike Ticagrelor can make you susceptible to bleeding even while brushing teeth. I think you should visit dentist to have complete mouth check. Take a list of your meds as well. Corsodyl is excellent but my dentist did not recommend its use for prolonged periods. Thrush in the mouth can also cause similar symptoms again your dentist will advise. Hope you get sorted

I'm due my normal dentist check up I couple of weeks, so will see what they have to say.

As never had an issue before taking all my meds, I think its meds related.

When I was on lots of meds I had mouth issues. I was diagnosed with oral lichen planus. I had to use a toothpaste with no chemical additives - I used Kingfisher. I also had to avoid processed foods as these also contained chemicals which aggravated it. I used Difflam mouthwash as recommended by the dental hospital. I’m now clear. Good luck.

I should have added that I have an allergy to some toothpastes designed for sensitive teeth - they make my gums bleed.
