I'm on HRT as patches... My valve problem was found AFTER I'd been on HRT for about three years... My Cardiologist said NOT ONE WORD about it... I'm still on it and have no desire to come off it... Let us know how you get on x
To anyone who has read this and commented, I have come away from the gp with a prescription for HRT. She said that as I don't have heart disease ie my surgeon said the reason I don't have pain is because I don't have coronary heart disease, then I have a mechanical problem ie it might be something I was born with or from rheumatic fever. Therefore, I will be okay to take HRT>!! Now Im scared.
Hi there, I have aortic valve stenosis diagnosed 15 years ago. I am shortly to have surgery. I believe my valve problem to be hereditary, both my parents had heart disease. I have been on HRT for 26 years (I am 76) and for the last 22 years oestrogen only and now take the minimum dose every other day. I have always read up on the latest research from the beginning and considered every risk. It keeps me feeling very well! There was a discussion on yesterdays (31st) woman's hour programme on radio 4 which you might find helpful
I'm not on hrt, but I do have a Mirena coil, which is a hormone one, I had a mechanical heart valve fitted about 6 years ago, and I've had the coil for the last 6 years, and no problems x
