Am going into Brompton hospital on Monday for TAVI for aortic stenosis and regurgitation. It's been a long time coming but teams think now is the right time, and I have to admit i'm struggling breathing wise, so hope it will help, although I also have AF, and 22% lung function, mainly due to scoliosis, so lungs are squashed up. They were going to do it under local, but anaesthetist is happy to do it under general, although recovery time will be a bit longer, it will be much easier for me, and the teams
Very nervous but it has to be done

I suspect you will notice a difference shortly after coming round. After my quadruple I felt as if I had been subjected to a Big Daddy splash but the angina and breathlessness had gone
Thanks Michael. Because of other issues, they are not sure how much difference it will make, but they think there will be some. Main point is to protect my heart, because at some point it won't be able to cope with leak and narrowing.
You have been well looked after at Brompton hospital therefore nothing to fear. They will continue to treat your individual yet complex case professionally and you will be up and about in no time.
I will be thinking of you on Monday and looking forward to updates as soon as you feel well enough
The team at the Brompton are world experts, as much as it is normal to worry and be fearful you are in the best hands. They have dealt with many cases like yours, where they have to decide if local or general anaesthetic is best and the recovery team will be ready to care for you afterwards. I used to work at the Brompton-so I know how skilled they are!
Thanks Ashleigh. Been under them since 1997, under 3 consultants and now surgeons too. Trust them completely. Will be glad to be in now, and put myself in their care, just waiting for transport
