Hello everyone. As a newby and having been reading on various posts on this site I thought I would ask if someone could tell me what my GP should have done when he diagnosed me with Angina. Should he have not examined me before making a diagnosis and in diagnosing me should he not prescribed me any medications, I thought meds would help prevent any further attacks? Can anyone please help me here . Thank you
Medical info please: Hello everyone. As... - British Heart Fou...
Medical info please
Did he actually diagnose angina or did he say it might be angina. As for examination, there is nothing to see, you need blood pressure check, ecg, echocardiogram, and possibly an angiogram to determine if you have angina - the last two of which would need hospital appointments. If he did think it was angina, normally he would’ve making appointments for you to see specialists. It is not always the case that you would be prescribed medication until a diagnosis is confirmed.
Gp have done the right thing, I went to A&E and cardiologist did the same thing until the test is organised, furthermore chest pain clinic would do the same thing until relevant test is arranged, so just relax and hopefully you will get chest pain appointment in two weeks time as per the earlier reply
My GP referred me to Cardiologist who diagnosed angina, I came away from that appt with a load of tablets, gtn spray and an appt for an angiogram.
You definitely need a referral so I would call and check if a letter has been sent.
