Unstable angina

Hiya,

Does unstable angina get worse with exercise?

I’m on the understanding that unstable angina is more serious than stable angina?

Or with it being unstable does that mean that exercise won’t bring it on like stable angina does?

There are numerous types of angina. The most basic type, stable angina, comes on with exertion whereas unstable comes on at rest or with minimal exertion. If you think stable angina is becoming unstable you need to contact your GP urgently. If it comes on and has not cleared after five minutes after your second dose of GTN ring 999 as it may be a heart attack!

Thank you for your reply.

That’s what I was basically asking, would unstable angina come on easier than if it was stable angina?

hello

found this description

Hope this helps !

Both prinzmetals and MVD are spasmodic conditions of the heart . Prinzmetals involves spasm in one or more larger coronary arteries . Usually comes on at rest , at night or early morning . Comes as clusters of spasms .

MVD is spasm of the tiny arterioles that supply the heart muscle with oxygen . Due to a dysfunction in the way the endothelium or lining of the vessels are unable to relax .

The pain of this can be at rest and Also durring excercise .

People with prinzmetals can go on to Also have MVD , especially if they are post menopausal .

Treatments are basically the same calcium channel blockers and nitrates . Betablockers are usually avoided as it worsens prinzmetal but can occasionally help people solely with MVD .

MVD was and is still sometimes called syndrome X ( a syndrome indicates that several conditions occur together ) so it describes the small vessel spasms that Also happen in the skin Renaulds , the brain , eyes , and intestinal and pulmonary .

hi

l thought that unstable angina as a title was firmly left in the kitchen draw but perhaps not all doctors know this

great post blaser

I have the diagnosis of the modern name of MicroVascular Disease and Coronary Artery Spasms rather than Syndrome X and prinzemetal or unstable angina which nowadays could be called MicroVascular Angina.

Unstable Angina is not just angina at rest or a progression from stable angina it is a disease in its own right
