Soo it's been just over a week now since the I was told it was highly likely that I have angina and I was put on some meds ......... Since then I have felt soo tired, I don't really know why or what to do 😢. I have been put on:- Atorvastatin, Bisoprolol fumarate, gtn spray and dispersible aspirin ....... All I want to is sleep!! Is this normal and if so does it settle down in time??

I hope you are doing as well as you can be x

Hi Sarah. Welcome. Following a heart attack last year I was put on a couple of the meds you are on. Bisoprolol and a statin along with other Meds. Nearly all heart meds can cause tiredness. However I found once I adapted to them the tiredness did ease. Although I still need a nana nap occasionally (I think that might be age related !) Also this heat is so draining as well. What I did to get used to the medication as I couldn’t tolerate the dose immediately I cut the tablets in half and occasionally in quarters to gradually increase the dose. That’s because I was on the lowest dose anyway and I stress it was under the supervision of my doctor. So it maybe useful to talk to your GP to maybe adjust the dose. If you are able just have a nap as well especially in this heat! Take care. Zena

Hiya Sarah,

Can I ask how old you are and also what your symptoms were with your angina,

i.e your chest discomfort, how long did the pain last and what did the pain feel like etc?

Sorry I couldn’t of been a help to you!

Hi Concerned

No research proves anything it just suggests.

20 years of medical research suggests that the use of statins are an effective way of reducing plaque breakdown, inflammation and progression of Coronary heart disease.

Yes diet is important along with exercise, having a good quality of life, being in a long-term relationship not being depressed, not smoking, not being exposed to pollution, managing stress , sleeping well at night all of these contribute to good cardiovascular health too.

Bisoprolol does make you really tired... I was on it but have come off because my blood pressure was already low.. I have a heart condition that gives me "Angina like" symptoms.. I have come to the conclusion that whatever heart condition we have, it in itself must cause tiredness.. Try to go for walks if you can. Sometimes you just have to give in and rest.. i'be read a lot of books since the beginning of the year! Hope this helps a little.. xx

I would talk to your GP or who ever put you on the medication. We are all different and it is what is right for you.

Talk to your GP. You could also try taking the Atorvastatin and Bisoprolol at night, so the strongest effects happen while you are asleep. I am trying this and I don't fell anything like as tired during the day. You could ask your GP about this.
