I had Heart Failure December 21 due to Covid. Left central collapsed reading was 35. Further into 2022 another check showed it had recovered to 55 which is classed as normal. So I was pleased with that. I have been on a lot of medication since and only one session with gp every year. The gp has blood works done says yes all looks ok. Or my kidneys and liver are suffering. Do I have breathing problems and that’s it! I feel this is not enough as I don’t understand 4 years into this what to expect. I do find I get out of breath, and I have put on 10kg! But only on my belly abdomen and thighs and these places I look like an inflated balloon. And weight went on fast. Soo uncomfortable yet I eat very little breakfast and lunch that’s all and on a plate next up from a tea plate . My abdomen is soo big it stops me eating a lot and gives me pain. Can’t wear a bra as it cuts under my breasts as there is no room between breasts and bloated abdomen and doesn’t help breathing. Having got all this weight I have spoken many times to different gps about how to lose it to no avail. Having a chronic back and weight I can only walk very little. Back to HF what should I expect going forward. Does anyone know? Thank you.

Have you been tested for thyroid issue ? Any blood tests done ? Any oedema , water retention ?

If you truly are not eating many calories then there must be an an underlying issue.

You may have to record as accurately as possible , take photos , of your total meal and snack consumption for a week ( weekends can detail some people and cause significant calorie increase that negates any calorie deficit therefore any weight loss).

If you are consuming calorie dense food that doesn’t look a lot on a plate you’re unlikely to create a calorie deficit.

If you have a record of a starting weight plus your food intake and do that for 2-3 weeks you should be in a position to go back to GP and ask for help, blood tests done, referral to a nutritionist .

Felt frustrated for you , don’t give in , cracked on and get the answers 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻

I had the exact sane bloating as you and was told that this was a fluid build up due to HF, as my lungs had filled with fluid, which then went to my abdomen abdomen and lower body. The hospital put me on a medication called Furosemide in a drip form first which worked really quick and peed all the fluid out, which was 9kg in a few days. They then put me on the tablet form.

My mum swelled up in those areas. She looked 8 months pregnant. It was heart failure and a build up of fluid. If your GP is ignoring it try phoning 111 and see if you can get to see someone at the hospital's urgent care department
