Hi All, sorry to post straight in with an advice request but got a bit of a fright this morning. I've had chest pain in the upper left side of my chest that comes and goes for a year. I'm 38 and BMI is presently 29. It takes ages to get an appointment with local GP (3:4 weeks) and because I have children I have prioritised getting them appointments over myself but I did mention the pains to the gp twice and she said probably inflammation. I thought maybe anxiety, although am not especially anxious. Anyway (!) this morning pain very much started for no reason (I was tidying the house a little but really nothing much) and went on for at least 45 min. Really hard to describe how it feels but it just really hurts. No shortness of breath/sweating or nausea. Distinct feeling this afternoon of having been in a fight! Chest still sore but not the same kind of pain. Sometimes feel resting helps a bit but didn't today. Exercise doesn't bring it on, I can do 20 min on cross trainer no problem. Don't know whether I need to see doctor soon. Almost wanted to go to a and e this morning felt so worried. Hoping it isn't heart (pain is high in the chest, about where a necklace might dangle but on the left side/above left breast) but increasingly not sure what else it could be. Grateful to know if anyone has experienced anything similar/has any advice. Anna

Funny morning
Hi Anna you need to ask for urgent / immediate Doctor appointment if only to get an ECG to put your mind at rest. Never ignore chest pain. Wish you well
See a doctor as soon as possible, in A&E if necessary. I agree with Dovaston - never ignore or "put up with" chest pains.
Thank you Dovaston, Hi Anna, I agree with D. Please never ignore any chest pain , have it checked 1st and let the medicaL team decides. Good luck.
Generally agree with the various comments. It is either the GP, 111 or A&E today and not sometime in the future. Heart associated pain presents itself differently in different individuals and, unfortunately, being able to work out, go for a run, etc. does not mean heart health as many posts here confirm.
As a general rule people should not ignore their own symptoms because they are looking after children, elderly relatives, etc. If you get seriously ill you will not be looking after anyone.
If you go to your GP you will have to be referred to a cardiologist anyway as they rarely do ecg's. Will take weeks. Next time it occurs go straight to a & e. Call an ambulance if you cant drive. Tell them you have severe chest pain and you should be seen quickly and given an ecg there and then. Don't ignore it please. Do you have any family history of heart

If that were me I’d call an ambulance. Ive ignored chest pain myself last year and after telling my GP what I’d done, that’s what he told me. Never ignore chest pain.
