Lately my heart failure hasn't been controlled by the drugs I'm on so a trip to the Drs Friday landed me in hospital for the weekend. They decided to discontinue ramipril and isosorbide and give me Ranexa . Does anyone have experience of this drug please . It did seem to go well but yesterday afternoon I had a long attack of breathlessness and palpitations . I'm assuming, or hoping, that the drug hasn't kicked in yet.
Any ideas?

Hello there - those symptoms sound really unpleasant. It might be that your body is adjusting to the change in your drugs, but these are also possible side effects of your ranolazine (brand name Ranexa). If they haven't already, your GP can see if there are heart failure specialist nurse services in the area who can support you in managing your symptoms and medications.
Thanks. Fortunately I'm due to see the cardiologist tomorrow so will see what he has to say.
When I left hospital they said they were referring me to the heart failure clinic but I'm not holding my breath. 12 months ago I was referred to the cardiac rehabilitation team and I'm still waiting to hear from them!
So sorry to hear that - although it shouldn't be your responsibility I'd certainly chase those referrals tomorrow to make sure you're seen. Both services are shown to be enormously beneficial to heart failure patients and obviously we want the best for you!
