Had a “small” heart attack on Monday , no procedures necessary released from hospital on Thursday with a whole load of drugs to take. I’m frustrated that I can’t appear to do much, most of time I feel fine, but fatigued and get breathless after walking just a few steps, how much should I be pushing myself at this stage, how will I know when I can push that bit further
Thanks

I think you need to discuss this with your Doctor but I was advised one month resting around the house ie. minimal activity, no lifting etc. It was stressed that I must allow this period of healing no matter how good I felt.
Only after that month was there a suggestion of cardiac rehab and progressively increasing phsysical activity.
Clearly we are all different ages, sizes and experienced different severity of heart damage but I would be wary of following anyone’s advice but your doctors!
Hopefully you have been referred to your cardiac rehab team . You'll be put through some circuit training assessed at your level and they will help you to improve health wise being tired after a few steps doesn't sound right . I would get checked out again .
I was in a similar position in March. Doc at hospital told me to rest but rehab unit told me to exercise. I did what I could little by little and now I can do most things within reason but still get short of breath at times. It is amazing how after a few weeks things usually improve. I have a follow up cardiac appointment this week to see if I can continue on meds or need more invasive treatment.
