Hi, I'm 31 and over the past 12 months I've been diagnosed with high blood pressure and due to an "unusual t-wave" during an ECG I'm seeing a cardiologist.
I'd consider myself very fit, I cycle around 60-100 miles a week at a fairly fast pace. However, my resting heart rate is 80 and during exercise my heart rates averages 165 and can go as high as 210. According to my cardiologist this isn't a problem, but I'm not so convinced.
I have lots of questions and don't really know where to find the answers. I hope I can find some help here.

A resting heart rate of 80 is OK - its maybe a fraction high for a very fit athlete but for the general populous its fine. Above resting rate of 90 would be more of a concern. As for the exercise side of things the general advice for exercise is to operate at ~85% of your max. Your max should be 220-age. So you theoretical max exercise rate should be around 160. So I don't think the 165 is too much of a concern on this basis, I would be more worried about the 210, especially if that were to be sustained (rather than a spike) as that is above your theoretical max.
Please note I am not medically qualified. I only know about this stuff because I have done some research and asked a number of similar questions on this site. So this is just my opinion.
If you have lots of specific questions ask away on here. Qualified nurses will respond sometimes and I have found people on here to be very knowledgeable. They have to be, they had lots of questions too at the beginning of their journeys.
