Advice needed

I live on Montserrat. I was diagnosed by visiting cardiac specialists last year August with stage 2 heart failure. We don't have any specialist doctors here so they said I need to go to England for treatment since we are British citizens. I can pay for the ticket and food for myself and my son, but I cannot afford rent. I understand that I will get no help with housing unless I am in England for six months to establish residency. Does anyone know of any shelters or organizations that can offer a place to stay? I am really scared, it has been a full year with no treatment and I have 2 boys, one of which is special needs to look after.

There is no British Embassy on Monserrat. Have you tried contacting the Governor's Office for advice on (1) [phone]/9 for advice.

Yes I have, they say that they can assist with tickets to go to England but that I have to find my own place to stay. I am so desperate, I would be fine with even a homeless shelter if I could just find one willing to take me and my 2 boys. I don't want to die and leave them motherless, not when medical treatment is there. Imagine, the only thing keeping me from getting life saving treatment is a bed to sleep in!

It could be worth contacting the Salvation Army (International). They have a presence in the Caribbean. I was friends with an officer for many years and they help with many issues including homelessness and missing persons. I used to pass someone begging virtually daily when I was commuting into London. However, when my friend came to London for a course he spoke with him but could not be offered help as his would give no personal details!
