HI have just been diagnosed with angina pectoris and also diffuse multi coronary artery disease , significant stenosis of the arteries at over 70, plus left stem disease have been told to.apply for pip, any thoughts on this ? Thanks in advance

I to was advise to apply for PIP, after a telephone assessment and then a large form to fill in, I now have a face to face assessment a week today.

Aw thanks christine, hope it all goes.good.for you, yes will consider it have a few other medical.issues but this came right out of blue and a big shock, yes please let me know thanks x

Believe upper age limit for PIP is 65 or State pension age, whichever is the higher. Good luck wrestling with the benefits system!

Hi ian, I'm under 65, the arteries are 70% blocked not me been 70 lol, thanks though x

Hi Shivvyxx, you can't apply for PIP if you are over 65 but you can apply for attendance allowance, although it doesn't cover mobility needs so may not be suitable. It is worth applying though you may fit the criteria.

Hi lol sorry yeh can see why u would think about that the way it was wrote, no under the age of 70 arteries blocked at over 70% was what i meant, thanks though x

When you apply for PIP and have to go for an assessment do not go on your own, you are better taking someone with you as through my own experience some assessors do not listen to what you are saying and also lie about the results

Hi my husband has dilated cardiomyopathy complete heart block and severe chronic heart failure he recently had to have an upgrade to cry pacing as his heart failure had worsened . He was already on PIP at the lowest rate and as his condition had worsened had written to inform them of this . As a result of this his benefit unbelievably was stopped even although his condition had worsened !! We are at the moment in the middle of appealing this decision but not looking good for getting it reversed . My advice would be before you fill out the form make sure you have someone with knowledge of how this works maybe welfare rights officer . To the person waiting to go for assessment face to face be aware that from the moment they come to collect you from waiting area they re assessing you and watching every move that you make good luck and take care
