Hi
Does anyone know whether these interact? My doc/consultant has not said anything. I take flutiform 50/5 and bisoprosol and ramipril.
Thanks

Hi baff,
You should speak to your GP some asthma medication and beta blockers do not go together well
Take care Mark
The most common ones are in fact ok together (inhaled meds are ok). The issue is that they attempt to do the exact opposite of each others.
Beta blockers work by blocking the effects of adeline. Generic beta blockers (the bisoporolol) when ingested orally they affect both Beta-1 cells (cardiac cells) and Beta- 2 cells (those found in the lungs). The "relaxation" (lacking a better word) of Beta-2 cells can cause asthma symptoms to deteriorate.
Asthma symptoms are most commonly treated with inhaled Beta-2 antagonists. As the name suggests these do the opposite of beta blockers but only effect the Beta-2 cells in the lungs. So taking the standard salbutomal reliever inhaler will have no effect on your heart or your heart meds.
I think orally administered asthma medication is a different matter. I was only on inhaled meds for asthma.
So with this in mind, if you notice needing your reliever inhaler more visit your GP to review your Asthma care plan. The issue maybe mitigated by upping your preventer or changing the beta blocker to a newer cardio-selective option.
