Who has advised you to cut your medication? If it is the colonoscopy clinic I would check with your cardio team. You do not say which you take which may be very relevant. Two friends had this done last year - the preparation the day before is hard but the colonoscopy itself easy. After you will be hungry but do not over do it or you might just set a new 100yd record! :)

Note:- I am not medically qualified so you must check with your cardiac team!

Have done a bit of research (not Doc Google) and it appears that temporary stoppage of ticagrelor is possible bust aspirin should never be stopped. Some patients are given heparin some time before as this has a longer term action. Good luck with it.

I have had several colonoscopies. Blood thinners and other meds need to be stopped as directed by your Anticoagulant nurses. How/when/how to restart varies depending on meds. Each patient is different. On the preparation day be prepared to shut yourself away with a good book. Have some cream such as Sudocrem close by in case of soreness. All the Endoscopy staff have been kind and helpful each time I had been through it. You will be offered sedation - suggest you take it.

Anticoagulant arrangements may vary depending on which hospital you are under. (I’m under a London hospital). Someone will surely sort it out for you before the test. And if you have a question/query don’t ever hesitate to ask someone even after discharge. It’s your body, your particular conditions. You should not be left worrying. As for bruises they’ve not been too much of a problem for me except at blood tests .

I had a colonoscopy just over a year ago and I am taking Rivaroxoban anti-coagulant for AV. The hospital advised me to stop taking this for 48 hours before the examination, which I did. Started it again as soon as I got home after the procedure.

I agree that the preparation for the colonoscopy is the worst part - the procedure itself plain sailing.
