Hi there. i wanted to know if anyone thinks this could be serious or not (yes i AM going back to my dr & gonna try get them to send me for some other test rather than another ecg.. i have been for 3 already.. and nothing much was found)

Anyhow.. for a few years now, i have had heart palpitations and tremors, and i have dealt with it as best as i can. (i suffer ehlers danlos syndrome type 3.. a.k.a the hypermobility type) Eds can cause heart issues and gastro issues among others & i have certainly suffered severely with indigestion and heartburn for years, it is a very frequent severe thing (which does cause chest pains)

But a few weeks ago, whilst in the bath, i felt a strong massive spasm on the left side of my chest.. felt like a huge palpitation and i got severe pain. it travelled down my left arm a smidgen and my left shoulder blade area. i leapt out of the bath in fear.. i did have indigestion bad it turned out, but it was very bizarre that i didn't experience it as i normally do!! (a tight discomfort in the middle of my chest)

since then i have experienced a similar scenario, and right now, i have a discomfort in my chest on the left side and occasional sharp pains there, a discomfort around my left shoulder blade area, and for almost 3 days now i have had stoamch spasms at the same time!

It is disturbing me, and worrying me. i am as i mentioned at the beginning of the post gonna try make a drs appointment and ask them to refer me for some other test rather than a 4th ecg, which this dr wanted to do. (lord knows why he felt a 4th one would be a great idea?) surely some other test would make more sense, as my 3 prior ecgs haven't shown aything other than a fast heart rate of about 115.

i have for a few years shown many signs of a condition known as postural orthostatic tachyardia syndrome, which IS common with people with eds to have that.. i am unusure as to whether i do actually have that or not, as i cannot get my drs to take my concerns seriously.. it is like banging you head against a brick wall, you get nowhere but frustrated and get a headache.

i live in constsnt fear of a hesrt attack or similar.. it is scaring me!! ;(

Thanks for your time

Hi there Pinkieshy, I hope you are feeling a little less stressed today. After reading your post I was wondering if you would benefit from speaking with the person who diagnosed you having Eds? As you say it can cause heart and digestive problems, and as the 3 ecg's you've so far had have not shown anything untoward, maybe this is a consideration? I can understand you being scared when experiencing the pains, and I hope you soon find reassurance from somebody who knows you and your medical history.

Kind regards

Sandra

i truly wish i could see the man who diagnosed me, but sadly he retired a few months after i was diagnosed! i am currently awaiting seeing another eds specialist, but sadly have been waiting almost 8 months for an appointment & lord knows how much longer i am going to have to wait (that is actually not related to this, i am being referred because i need dental surgery and react bad to anaesthesia, so need to see an eds specilialist to figure out what to do, but i could maybe ask about this too, if i knew when i was likely to get an appointment that would be great!) with the nhs the way it is now though, it could be a long time before i get an appointment, who knows *shrugs* Thanks for your reply though x have a wonderful day :)

Hi there Pinkieshy, yes waiting for an appointment can add to any stress and of course that's the last thing you need.

A dear friend of mine was very fond of using the saying "A squeaky gate gets the attention a quiet gate doesn't"... don't how you would feel about chasing folk up for an appointment, as of course that carries it's own stress.

I hope you soon get things sorted.
