Hi this is my first time on this site. I had a stent fitted 3 weeks ago and then experienced prolonged palpatations on the night of 23/12, was admitted for monitering then given beta blockers to slow down my heart. This is all so new, I don't know what the abbreviations are etc. Have to say I'm feeling scared and a bit depressed. I'm 57 yrs old female and live alone. Just thought I'd say hello and hopefully get to know more about it all

Hello Poppy and welcome to the forum. There are many here who have had stents and they will provide insght to their experiences, so you are not alone. Scared and depressed is pretty normal too, but you've been diagnosed and thats good news. Stents open your arteries and help blood flow but in placing them they may disturb so that may be the reason behind the palpitations.

We are a friendly bunch and will happily share experiences, we rant we rave and we try and help as much as we can, support is so important

hope that takes a little bit of the scared away, feel free to ask anything

take care

Mark

Thanks for replying so quickly :) and I know that I need to just find out a bit more regarding Heart Disease, help myself and keep up with appointments. I have Cardiac Rehab this Friday coming and see my Cardiologist beginning of Feb, he did say there were other irregularities which he will discuss at my next visit. I should know more then.

rehab is a great place for most, people like you, great nurses and exercise to show yiou what you can do.

Do make a list of questions for your cardiologist, we all forget to ask things and regret after.

Welcome poppy111! I had 3 stents put into one artery about 18 months ago. Scared and depressed was the part I wasn't expecting. Rehab really does help you to regain your confidence and also offers lots of information. You will meet other people going through the same situation.
