Had a crt/d fitted 8 weeks ago and apart from some discomfort when sleeping with device moving when turning over I feel much better and more energy I was a good decision to have it fitted. And having the monitor at home this means I only have to go to hospital every thee months.

Someone I know had a CRD-P fitted to cure an irregular heartbeat some weeks after stenting. He feels much better for it but has made similar comments about sleeping. The other problem he has had was medication. He is on Bisoprolol, a statin (atorvastatin?) and something else. Anyway both the consultant and GP changed dosages independently of each other and he ended up feeling quite unwell. All sorted now.
Hi Pete.... and fellow CRT-D user... delighted to hear it has made a difference and you are feeling better due to the device.
Similar to you I too had the op around 10 weeks ago... and I am feeling great too. I find sleeping on the side that the device is on is most comfortable for me... altho yes it can move in the night a bit.
But isn' it wonderful to not have the worry... and feel better and more able to do stuff. I too have a home device....which is a great security blanket.... as they can check remotely if I am feeling unwell. Although thus far all good.
I hope others awaiting the op read your post. Happy and healthy Christmas
Hi Laura.. . It' called a Merlin home transmitter...and it allows them to check your device and get a reading remotely... which saves you going to hospital for them to do the checks. Also if I am feeling ill or worried about my device.... I can call them and they will ask me to send a manual transmit... so they can check straight away if there are any problems or readings that show if anything has happened.
Great piece of kit.... and saves the nhs appt times... and is much easier for us patients to get checked from home too. X
You'll only be able to get one if your cardiology department and the technicians there have home monitoring set up for patients with implanted devices. Your device will also need to be compatible. It can't be assumed that you'll be able to have one. Although hopefully you will of course. Fingers crossed for you🤞
