Hi

Thought I would have a read on here and learn, just over a month ago I had to three stents fitted to my LAD as I had a chronic total occlusion, I still haven't gone back to work which I'm hesitant to do as I still haven't got to start the rehab course or seen my GP. I have been walking a lot but I'm getting a bit fed up and panicky as I seem to be getting more pains in my chest well not exactly pains more like twinges.

Hi there, first the nag. Go see your GP please, you should be seeing them regularly, firstly for them to get to know you, secondly to discuss your treatment, thirdly to talk over symptoms that you have.

Ok, nag done, twinges, a common theme here, natural when you think about it, you've had a wire up your arm or groin, into your arteries, a foreign object placed into your veins widening them so blood can flow freely. It's only natural to panic and worry, if they feel any different, if you feel different, light headed short of breath, aches call 999.

Work, another reason to see your GP, some are back after a month, some 6 weeks, it's not an exact science, go have a chat, tell them how you feel.

Walking, great good for you, easy low cost exercise, please be careful as the temperature drops, cold constricts the vein, making your heart pump harder, constricts the lungs making breathing harder and making your heart beat harder.

Good luck

Mark

Hi Mark

I have attempted to see my GP but didn't have much luck, I rang to request an appointment and explained why I needed one to the receptionist who offered an appointment two weeks later, I said I didn't think this was quick enough so a telephone call from a GP was booked.

The GP who called me was not my own and didn't seem very interested I was told the pain/twinges I had were normal and would go away but if they got worse to call 999, she also said to come in to have the nurse check my blood pressure which I have done.

Last week I had my first meeting with the rehab nurse which I had to chase and I'm going to my first exercise class in a couple of weeks time, the nurse told me to go and see my GP so I'm going to try to make an appointment again tomorrow.

I think I need to be a bit more pushy but I'm not really that sort of person.

Cheers Martin

Hi Martin

I had a stent fitted to my LAD just over a month ago too.

Very similar twinges and pains as you describe plus the odd palpitation - but very different to the pains I had before. As Mark said these are settling down pains mine seem to be getting less frequent every week and my confidence is growing.

I’ve had my Rehab session and they are great - give you real confidence. Keep pushing to get in - or contact them direct.

All the best mate

Daren

I understand your reluctance, there is a wide disparity between GPs even on this forum, some good some bad. I too prefer my own GP to others in the surgery and am reluctant to see those
