Hi I am Peter Sutton 69 I am new here I had 3 stents put in May 2011 up to a year ago I was still cycling now I struggle to breath properly. My Dr increased dose of Ramipril from 5mg to 10mg to try and get my blood flowing stronger but it did not work and made me ill
so back to 5mg.
Any suggestions for constipation being caused by medication?

I can’t help regarding your stents and sudden breathlessness as my problem is valve related.
However I do have a few tips for constipation. The best gentle over the counter medication is movicol but check with the pharmacist that it is OK fro you to take. Foods that I find help are soft dried apricots, prunes and grapes. I take a daily glass of beetroot juice which also helps and is good for the ‘old jam tart’. I avoid stodgy, starchy foods and prefer natural muesli with extra seeds and nuts, fruit, veg and salads.
I’m sure there will be someone on the forum who can relate to your heart problem.
Hi Peter, welcome to the forum. You say you struggle to breathe properly, have you had any sort of cardio test since your stents were put in? Do you feel any other symptoms? I cant see that it would help your breathing to increase the dose, in fact the opposite according to my leaflet and the NHS website.
Hi i have recently had an echo my Dr explained to me that heart valve is not supplying enough blood to the heart may be you understand the following.
Dr Karammjeet Bimbh i did an echo on this 69 year old gentlemanwith known ischaemic heart desease and increasing breathlessness. His echo showed that he had normal LV dimensions. His apical septum was contracting poorly and was hyper-reflective. There was evidence of mild diastolic dysfunction. There were no significant valve lesions seen.
Posted to Dr Gavin Durrant. My Doctor.
Ramipril-Making it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body. Iam very lathargic.
Sorry I don't fully understand the terms used, hopefully a friendly nurse can opine further. Ischemic heart disease is where your arteries are narrowed by a build up, this was treated by your stents back in 2011. By the sounds of it you require further investigation
