Hello bfegan,
apologies I am no expert on this issue, but there is a wealth of information available on the NHS site, nhs.uk/conditions/mitral-va...
I would hope one of the BHF nurses will pop along shortly with some more information for you
Hello there - sorry to hear about the results of your echocardiogram. What happens next all really depends on how badly your valves are regurgitating (leaking) and what effect this is having on how well your heart is coping. Treatments can range from medications to reduce the workload of your heart to valve repair or replacement surgery. If you haven't already discussed your results with your GP, make an appointment to go through them so you can better understand what is likely to happen next.
You can read a little more about heart valve disease here: bhf.org.uk/heart-health/con... or if you'd like to chat to one of our helpline nurses call 0300 330 3311 Monday to Friday 9-5pm.
Hope this helps.
Take care,
Chris
Thank you for the information I will look everything up
