Congenital heart defect.

Hello all. It's been 9 weeks since I had open heart surgery to close an ASD and rerouting of a partial anomalous pulmonary venous drainage. I'm on my 3rd week of cardiac rehabilitation and planning to go back to work in a few weeks. I started having symptoms a couple of years ago which included tachycardia and palpitations. I never had any problems during my 43 years and I'm so thankful to all the nhs staff who found my problem and fixed it.

Really glad to hear you're doing so well, Jemjha - hope you're finding the cardiac rehab helpful. Fantastic that you're not far off going back to work too :)

Hi. Good to hear your doing well.

Im 37 and I'm having a 23mm ASD repaired soon.

I'm trying to make sure my kids are prepared for what is to come. How long did it take you before you could walk just a couple of streets?

Any pearls of wisdom you wished you'd known?

Hi, they'll get you up and walking soon after your op. I could walk a couple of streets soon after I'd got home but everyone recovers differently and you must take things easy. I wish they'd warned me about sneezing and hiccups, painful, be warned!!😁
