New and looking for advice.

Hello everyone, over the last few weeks I have been getting small red & itchy patches on the backs of my arms, neck, ears and hands, some of these patches have now become very dry and scaly. It has been suggested to me that this may be psoriasis and although I have not seen a doctor yet and before I do, would like to know if there are any over the counter remedies/creams I could try.

It has the look of psoriasis but I'm not a doctor and I don't want to diagnose as other things can look similar. If you want to try something pre doctor then I would suggest Sorion cream (easily available from boots or Amazon). It's a great skin reliever and used a lot my psoriasis folks but also just for dry skin. It won't have a negative effect so worth a shot but you should go to doctor for checks. Good luck.

My go-to product is Balneum Cream, might be Balneum Cream Plus! It contains urea, which is, apparently, good for psoriasis. But no, it does not smell of pee!

With any of these 'management' products, regular use is essential. My experience is that some patches of psoriasis sit there more or less forever but are much less troublesome with daily or twice-daily application of a good emollient. But some, especially the less severe patches, might just disappear after a while of that regime. Best to persevere for at least a month or so though, rather than to stop using something the minute you see any improvement.

Aqueous cream is gentle on the skin and can be used for a replacement to soap. Have you switched detergent recently?

Avoid hot water if you can or take very short showers. Lots of lotion, especially after a shower. Get the strongest percentage of cortisone cream you can find at the drugstore.
