Well i'm not a medical person but when we waited for the results of my son's autism diagnosis we were very worried indeed. Actually we shouldn't have been because it didn't turn out to be as bad as we expected. The problem is information, there isn't enough. It's important to remain supportive and positive. The tests are quite rigorous but nothing at all to worry about. Good luck. Jim

Hi, our daughter wasn,t diagnosed until she was 17. We had spent all of her life looking for a reason for why she was behaving as she was. Things got pretty bad when she went into teenage years with us not understanding her and her not understanding us. One night she got the wrong end of the stick from what her sister said and she just couldn,t take anymore. She dissapeared from us and went to the hills with the animals. She wanted to commit suicide because she knew she was different and didn't know why. It was the dogs that stopped her from doing anything which i couldn't understand why she was bothered about the dogs and not us. Thank god it was a new doctor the next day and he sent her straight that day to the calms team. It was them who discovered what was the matter. Within weeks we were told what they thought was wrong and another few weeks she got her diagnosis. I told her what they thought was the matter. She had a big smile on her face. We had finally found what the problem was and we finally knew how to deal with her. Hope that helps. Brenda
