Is anyone here on a ketogenic diet? It ways originally developed for epilepsy but is said to be beneficial for other neurological disorders but I haven’t found any information on ataxia specifically.

Hi, A Keto diet had been mentioned by my daughters neurologist for future consideration. As with yourself I couldn't find any research relating to cerebella ataxia. I am therefore interested in any answer you have to your query.

If you search my links you will find multiple discussions on Keto diets. Ketosis helps neurological disorders because it increases the body's production of NAD+. Today there are better ways of increasing NAD+.

I am now on a Keto diet, and I was for about two years. I have FA. I had short breaks, like one bad meal (pizza, kebab, cakes, fizzy drinks, ice-cream, for example, but small portion). I observed that my FA is developing more slowly since I started my Keto diet, and my heart works much better. I had a problem with the thickness of the heart's wall, but now the cardiologist said to me to give up my treatment because my heart works better then 4 years ago. I made the conclusion for me: the Keto diet is the key to the best.

By the way, once in a few months I use to do long fasting, and more often I do intermittent fasting.
