🙂 My Optician referred me because she detected double vision that was difficult to control. But the appointment could be for any number of reasons. Was it actually your Optician who referred you? 🙂xBeryl

🙂 Lorraine, I was very happy with the thorough testing at my local Eye Clinic, nothing was too much trouble 🙂xBeryl

Hi there B,, I have 4 questions: 1.Do all ataxians have vision problems? 2. What is the difference between blurry and double vision 3. Does anyone know anyone who has been helped by the Moorefield Eye discovery w magnets?? 4. Can prisms help all? XN

🙂 Neta, as far as I know, not everyone has double vision, most people have a degree of Nystagmus, and there are other visual symptoms associated with specific Ataxias. But, I’m not referring to ‘blurry eyes’. Double vision is specific, people experiencing this do see double. If you read the article about Moorfields and ‘ dancing eyes’ it explains how this procedure has been done once, and was successful. It may put your mind at rest regarding ‘blurry eyes’ and actual double vision, if you had an eye test. An Optician should be able to identify the exact problem, diagnose double vision, Nystagmus ( bouncing, dancing vision) or pinpoint a different condition 🙂 xB

Thanx for your kind and lengthy response. I read the Moorefield link. Currently,, I cannot see unless letters are very large. This may be then effects of nystagmus, so I have read in Dr. Google Isn there anyone else like me? xxN

Ataxia might be responsible for double vision. Prisms in the lens cure that. If you do not already visit an ophthalmologist then this is another help. Prof might be checking an area of expertise he is not fluent in.

Should be free, if recipient of benefits. HC2?

Ask questions of ophthalmologist. Is there a connection?

I was referred by Dr Giunti, ages ago to an eye specialist and he was lovely.

Sometimes my eyes are fine but they can be are very sensitive to bright lights, headlights (sunglasses and reactor light lenses work well), double vision sometimes and for a while (why I was referred) I saw strange lights and stars for a bit - weird.

Good luck x
