Hi steveash

Thank you for your question. FA is a genetic condition so the possibility of developing it as a result of external influences, for example the method which your daughter decides to give birth, will have no influence whatsoever on whether the baby develops FA or not. Has your daughter had any genetic testing to ascertain whether she has\is a carrier of the FA gene?

my wife read somewhere that if FA where to be of the late onset time that the pressure on the brain caused by pushing in child birth could awaken it so to speak

I have late on-set FA, I was in my 40's when it started, and no-one has been able to tell me why it started. Also, as Harriet asked, has your daughter been tested to see if she has the gene for have FA? She may not even have the chance of developing it and you may be worrying for nothing.
