So many questions about vaccines!!

As I feel I'm reading so many of the same question about vaccine priority lately, I thought I'd put it in a post of its own..... just hope people actually look down the list or use the search function 🤣

People officially told to shield by Matt (via letter/email/text) are Group 4, everyone else is Group 6 (underlying conditions including chronic respiratory conditions) at the moment.

The exception to these groups would be

- if your age is older than your asthma category

- where profession also comes into it - someone who is a doctor, nurse or care home worker (for example)

- resident in a care home

All the above will come before Group 4.

Well done Twinkly and thank you for the clarification! I imagine you must be an amazing organiser and you’re really good at explaining things clearly! 😊

Ha ha thank you - I used to be able to explain things well 😆 - now it gets a lot of editing!

Hopefully it clarifies for people as Dee said. Basically gp will inform you when it's your turn. If you go on your gp website they will have info on there about not contacting them for vaccine queries or booking it, you will get an invitation when it's your turn like flu vaccine. 🙂

I am working from home in London where I rent a room. I have not changed GP practice and it is still at my primary address (my parents). The reason is my London address is temporarily. I just wonder when I get the invite for the vaccine whether I could choose to have it in London at a vaccination hub or do I need to have it done at the registered gp surgery? Thanks

I literally have no idea, sorry! Could you phone your actual GP surgery and ask? As in now ish so you know when the time comes. If you get a "really helpful" 🙄 receptionist (sorry all lovely ones out there but obviously this wouldn't apply to you!) who just says they don't know, maybe ask if they (the surgery, the practice manager, whoever, would be able to find out.

I suspect it's linked to the trust you're registered at/in but that's just a hunch - and is certainly worth asking about.

Have you registered as temporary at a London GP? You can do this for up to 3 months (before it needs renewing). Then you are still registered at the original location, but the nhs/Gov are aware where you are currently situated.

Last Xmas I registered at my parents as temporary as needed an urgent GP appt, didn’t realise they had don’t a 3 month reg and not a 1 day reg, and my Boris boxes/Nhs letters got sent there for those months (it was annoying as I didn’t know, but once i worked it out i just rung the GP i was temp at and they took me off their books😅).

I also did this at uni and again it worked fine. Just an idea

I have not done so I was waiting till I get settled in london and then change GP. It has worked well using my primary address in the past. I just come home for the asthma review once a yr. Just not a good idea to make any changes now. Thanks

I have done what Emma suggested in the past (similar situation to you in that I hadn't quite moved properly). It didn't affect my official practice/registration at all and the new place was more than happy to accept temporary registrations.

I will need to look at the temporary registration just in case of emergency. Thanks
