Hi everyone

Hopefully this will be a nice, short post (unlike the usual essays 😅😂😉)

Action plans - everyone needs one, not everyone has one!

When you’ve been diagnosed with asthma (as in the docs are pretty sure this is the issue), this should be first on the cards! It clues you in when to get help from your GP or when to seek urgent care. It’s not just based on PF but symptoms as well. If often tells you when you need steroids, to help stop issues developing for too long. It makes life so much easier and gives you the confidence to live with your asthma! There are different ones for adults to kids (the kids one is way more fun 😉). If you use a MART regime there are different plans to follow, so if you are switched to this regime you need to talk to your doc about the differences. If your best PF changes, then the scores for your plan changes. If your meds change, then they can change your plan too (or need to be added to the plan).

Print them off and ask someone to help you filling it out, copy them so you have a few copies, what ever you prefer and put them in easy spot/to find places. Take a copy into work and leave it in a drawer, stick it on the fridge or in your meds cabinet. Give a copy to your kids school, to their extra-curricular teachers/leaders/coaches, whoever they see a lot and needs to know!

And... that’s about it 😂! Short and sweet and hopefully more a prompt/reminder than educational! Feel free to ask questions below if you have them!!

Thank you for that Emma! I wonder if I should get an action plan in the near future, my asthma nurse hasn’t mentioned one yet (maybe she’s waiting for GP’s official diagnosis..).Also it would be good to know for definite if I am on the MART regimen as she said take either extra puffs of the Fostair or the ordinary ventolin as a reliever. I decided to stick to the latter. I will be speaking to her in about 3 weeks when she checks in about the Fostair so I might ask about these. 👍

Thank you, Emma! It turned out this was timely for me. When I looked it seems I don’t have one since my medication changed, perhaps a year ago. Several old ones, though! I once completed an Asthma U.K. version (perhaps a couple of years ago) and took it with me to my review - it was instantly replaced by one of the local, less good ones. I must read that through, to see what it is I don’t like about it.

By the way, I have been impressed by your long, clear clarifications on various issues. Thank you for taking the trouble!! I intend to keep copies of the ones relevant to me.
