Why does my asthma symptoms ease when I am busy

I had a bit of asthma this morningI walked up the town did some shopping walked home again and then did some work in the garden and I was fine.But about 5 or 10 minutes after coming in from the garden the asthma symptoms seemed to come back and my blue inhaler had no effect.Can someone explain that for me.Thanks

I forgot to say what medication I am on my reliever is Salamol Easi-Breathe my Preventer was a Clenil Modulite but my nurse then changed it to a Fostair 100/6 but I then spoke to Asthma uk and they said I should have a stronger one so my nurse changed again to a Fostair 200/6.She has also given me 2 months supply of Montelukast to take one at night and she also gave me something called a spacer which I have never used before.At this time I feel fine.Hope you are all ok and keeping safe.

Hi, I'm undiagnosed at the minute, but being treated for asthma. I tend to find when I'm moderately moving I get some breathlessness symptoms, but when I move for long periods, or even run (ran 15km on Friday) then I'm fine. It's such a weird thing.

Anyway, that probs didn't help answer you but just letting you know there's someone out there with equally as strange symptoms, similar to yours.

I used to run for about 45 mins to hour most mornings but when this started I stopped.I had three runs of 35 mins last week going to try and do the same this week and then try and build it up at least I will be getting some exercise.You say you have not been diagnosed yet are you on any medication.I was diagnosed about 50 years ago so used to it and have had my share of ambulance journeys to hospital.

I try and run at least 2-3 times a week, I generally run 5km at around 25 mins each but moving up to 10km more. The 15km was a 1st for me- was tough and it took me 1hr 30. It's good for my mental state, as all this has become a chew, not knowing what's wrong.

I'm being treated for adult on set asthma at the moment and I've been on Symbicort and now Fostair. Symbicort started off amazing, for about 3 weeks and then started to not work as great. I got a chest infection 12 weeks ago and I've not been the same since and the new Fostair isn't really working much. Apart from my PFT that shown obstruction with moderate reversibility, all my other tests are normal. Bloods, CT, x-rays etc.

I have recently had three blood tests including two full blood counts and two chest xrays and two examinations by two different doctors and still seem to be in the same place but will not give up.Keep well

I get a similar thing, but I’m undiagnosed, still labelled as post-viral after over 3 months. If I exercise it can be as if I’m distracting myself from it. It feels better even if it isn’t, until I stop. But then if I take salbutamol it doesn’t do anything. 4 hours later my chest is still tight and I try another couple of puffs, and then blow me, it works.

Because I’m undiagnosed I can’t help wondering if this is asthma at all. The reliever is always supposed to help if it is asthma, right? 😳

I have asthma and salbutamol has never worked for me.

Can anyone explain this when I get up in the morning I am fine but after about 30 mins my breathing seems to be different not gasping for breath.I then walk up to the town to do some shopping then walk home again.I then did some work in the back garden and then finished painting the shed.By this time my breathing was normal and it stayed normal all day and was still fine when I went to bed and through the night but the next morning it was the same as the previous one .

Have just walked to the town and back half hour walk then decided I need to find out if I can still run so decided to try one of the runs I would normally do to and if I would struggle.This normally takes me about 50 minutes have just done it in 55 minutes,Will try another of my runs tomorrow this one normally takes about 75 minutes so will see how I get on.Feel really good.

Simply can't beat a good run.

My consultant called me yesterday and said my symptoms aren't related to asthma, but that hasn't excluded the diagnosis as she thinks I could have something else going on. I've been ordered some tests for my heart (even though I physically don't feel like there's anything wrong with it and my ECG had been normal). Getting an echocardiogram (ultrasound) then I'm doing a cardiopulmonary exercise test. I only feel good when I'm really active.

I am am having a echocardiogram on the 17th maybe that is because I had heart surgery in 2010.I had a one hour run this morning and everything was fine felt fine after.Going to try and increase it to 75 minutes by next Wednesday.The longest I have run for was 1 hour 40 so that is my target.
