whistle when i breathe, but i feel fine

anyone else get this? when i lay down in bed, i get a whistle when i breathe (by mouth)

its not in a struggling way, i'd rate the chest tightness a 2 out of 10, which means i could even sleep during it. does a whistle/wheeze always mean somethings wrong? i've experienced wheezing without much besides the slight chest uncomfy-ness

I live in the US and most here have a fever before the respiratory symptoms appear. Hope you get better. I have asthma and I know how scary it can be

A lot of things can cause whistling, and not all of them sinister. Things like post nasal drip (PND), reflux (as it’s positional) and vocal cord dysfunction (VCD/ILO) can cause it, not just asthma and allergies.

Tho it’s easy to test... does it clean up if you take a dose of reliever? Does it clear up with an antihistamine? If it’s reflux try something like gaviscon. Etc etc

Hope that helps

it clears up with antihistamine, but the next night it was combined with the chest tightness which caused difficultly so i used a reliever inhaler, which cleared everything up. still get whistles often while laying down, though

Yes, I had that wheeze at night for months before I went to gp. Mine's asthma. If you have it it's very important to have it under control, however mild. Have a chat with a gp asap, if you do have asthma it makes you more vulnerable if you should contract corvid 19. P

any time i get the whistles i check the peak flow first, but without the chest tightness accompanying it, it's most likely nightly post nasal drip......? glad to know other people experience night wheeze. i'm thinking of just getting a humidifier

If your home is dry then a humidifier may help, I used to boil a kettle in my little son's bedroom when his asthma was bad in the very dry country we lived in. On the other hand if your home is damp then a de-humidifier would be the one.
