I recently had a spirometry for lung capacity and I am worried about the results, for my age weight and height, 80-90% of my lungs should be the capacity, my result was 43%. I am being referred to a respiratory unit for adults (I am 17)
Has anyone experienced a low 'score' or has any idea what I should expect? - thank you

The respiratory unit isn't that bad i had to get sent there aswell but considering why I was sent and asthma I got high marks which shocked me, so just relax remember your breathing and you will be fine.
Remember you have an advantage over others that need the test you have asthma you have been taught how to breath you do it all the time with your asthma so when you do this test remember your breathing and you will be fine.
I was sent to the respiratory clinic and had go in the wee box and blow many ways into the tube. I was sent because I had been coughing and short of breath for about 5 months. I was treated for chest infections 3 times during that time but unfortunately nothing releaved my symptoms.
So when I got my results I was shocked as mine was also low at 47% and should have been 80% that's when I was diagnosed with asthma. In a way I was a little relieved as after 5 month of hell I was thinking all sorts. However I have now started my treatment and 3 weeks down the line my symptoms have not improved one bit. I seem to have caught a virus and am right back where I started 5 month ago. Phlegm and breathing like an asthmatic pit pony and coughing till I nearly pass out.. But I am interested to see what my next results will be since starting my meds.
I will keep you posted and I hope your ok and get sorted. The plus side so I have been told is that Asthma is reversible with treatment and constant monitoring.
