Hi guys
My son is 18 and always had mild asthma. He's using serotide but last few nights he's sneezing which then triggers coughing and tight chest.
Any advice? He's off to uni soon so am worried
Thanks

Hello
Sneezing and coughing can definitely be a trigger for asthma. My asthma is worse at night when I cough in my sleep but I always wake up, and have done for 30+ years.
Don't be overly worried. I would urge him to see the doctor to review his preventer, and make sure he has an ample supply of reliever!
Waking at night can be a sign of uncontrolled asthma. Your son should visit his GP for an asthma review as soon as possible before he goes to university, There's many other things they can try that won't seem overly drastic. Even increasing his seretide may help. It may even be he can take an anti-histamine at night to stop him sneezing.
Hope this helps and your son gets some relief x
