Is high PF always good?

Hi there. I've got a stinky cold, including a sore chest. Breathing's not brilliant. Thought I would do my PF out of interest, and it's about 100 higher than usual. I'd expect it to be lower than usual. Should I worry?

Hi gamba

sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well. Peak flow is one of the things which tells us how our asthma currently is, normally a good peak flow suggests your asthma is fairly well controlled at the time however if you have symptoms with a good peakflow it is more important to look at these than the number on your peakflow meter. I wouldn't worry about it being higher than usual, peakflow is one of several things doctors look at when assessing your asthma, if your symptoms are particular problematic then please go to see your GP.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi gamba

I also have a stinky cold and sore chest. If you have asthma symptoms ignore your peak flow and go and visit your GP.
