Chest Pain

Hi! I have been experiencing chest pain since yesterday. It is odd though, because my asthma has been kind of bad lately, but not now, or after the chest pain started. However, thats not my point. My point is that it really hurts to inhale and it starts in my throat, then feels like it is going down the center of my lungs and as i breathe deeply it really hurts on the sides. It literally feels like someone is standing on my chest and that my lungs will explode if i berathe any deeper. And it also gets 10 times worse if i lay down, or if i go outside, and also when i stand up after sitting for a long time. I'd blame it on the asthma, but as for now i am not wheezing or goughing, however, it does feel very restricting. Does anyone know what this could be or what could be causing it? Or possibly how to get rid of it?

Cheers!

Hi Haagendaz,

Sorry to hear you are having pain, it sounds very unpleasant. There are many things it could possibly be, most of them not serious, but a few potentially serious - for example, pneumonia or a pulmonary embolus (blood clot on the lung).

Since it is impossible for us to rule out the serious things over the internet, I would go and see your doctor as soon as possible just to be on the safe side.
