Snowy - wednesday - (Updated - 12 noon)

Ok, well to start with I actually went home with the rest of the family at 10pm last night for the first time ever!!! I was hopeful with the temp drop that she would behave herself overnight for the first time too and I could get a whole night sleep – beginning to forget what that was ! got home, had my beer :-) and Went to bed and crashed out at 11pm…

And pleased to say that I go NO phone calls from the hospital overnight, however the morning didn’t start well, I slept through my alarm set for 6am, Lewis slept through his school alarm set for 7am, Andrea’s parents slept through both (and they have no excuse as the room they are staying in is in-between both of ours!) and only woke when the postie was frantically ringing the door bell at 8:15 !! major panic as Lewis late for school, and Oh dear not a good start to the day, on the positive side it meant WE ALL slept very well, I got Just over 9 hours !!!!, and the postie, he bought a lovely get well teddy from her Auntie in South Africa!

So a frantic start to the morning, major panic of getting Lewis to school as by the time he got there he had already missed registration, assembly and start of period 1, luckily the school was very understanding, and I dashed to the hospital leaving her parents to clear up the devastation left behind in the house with us flying through like a whirlwind! haha.

Now, the point of the post! Oh yeh – Snowy is still stable, temp did not got down anymore overnight, and yes I am going to be told to be patient yet again I know!, but that was the first night that no-one was called to assist her, the nurse on duty who had been on for the last few nights told me that one of the crash team actually came to ITU at midnight to see if she actually was ok?? Oh dear, she has a reputation already! And he was pleased to see her still stable.

Meeting with cons later to see what today’s plan is? Not thinking ahead too much as to if they do bypass, as they always change the plan and confuse me!

By the way, is anyone getting fed up with me doing these update posts? Or should I carry on? I feel a bit like a stuck record sometimes and don’t want to do it unless people want me to?

Hopefully can let you know more later.

Alex

Oh Alex I'm so pleased you got some sleep. You so needed it!

Fab news that snowy has remained stable all night and you got no phone calls. That's brill. She's a fighter. So pleased.

Sending much love and thoughts.

Oh and YES definitely want updates. I'm thinking, as I'm sure everyone else is, how snowy is doing all day long. Please keep us informed as much as you're able and only if you have time and it is of help to you too.

Lots of love to both you and Lewis

Alex, I'm so pleased that you all managed to get some proper sleep last night. I'm sure you'll manage much better for having it.

It's great news that Snowy managed a whole night without anything alarming happening and I very much hope that this is a sign of better things to come.

Please keep updating us, if it's not too difficult for you. You, Snowy and Lewis are very much in everyone's thoughts. You are all fighting so hard for her life and I think everyone wants to support you all as much as possible.

Sending positive thoughts and love to you all.

xx

Hi Alex.

It's good to hear that you finally got a decent nights kip. You need to look after yourself to stay strong for Snowy and Lewis. None of us are fed up with your update posts. We are all rooting for you and your family and pray that Snowy continues to fight and improve.

The new drug regime sounds like it is having some effect at last. I hope that all goes well today.

All the best.

Dave.

Hi Alex

Please do continue with the updates if you can. We are all thinking of you and hoping for the best outcome for you and Snowy.

So grateful to you for taking the time and effort to update us regularly. Snowy is on my heart all the time, and I'm always anxious for more news and, like you, impatient for any improvement!

I'm so glad to hear that things have been relatively stable overnight, and that all of you managed to get such a good night's sleep last night, even though it must have been a bit stressful this morning! I hope you feel better for having had a proper rest, and that you can continue to take better care of yourself.

Sending lots of hugs and best wishes to all of you, and continuing to pray superhard for Snowy.

update 12 noon

Ok, well It’s taken a while to meet with the cons today as I missed his early round with being late! And then when he came back to see me at 10:30 he was then almost immediately called away to another emergency..

However I’ve now seen him and it seems my good news was possibly short lived, her temp has remained at 106 despite the cooling process continuing on and off all night, and they have the results back from yest evenings repeat tests, the things he was worried about yest morn when he had those results show no sign of improvement today, and a couple have deteriorated but only very slightly, he said he did not want to go into too much detail with me and start “naming things” (I assume by this he means which organs have shown the worst results) as….

1). As these tests alone are not conclusive and he cannot confirm that it means any long term issues yet without further investigation, and ..

2). He said I had enough to deal with, with everything else that we know IS wrong and adding to my fears over something that might/or might not be a problem or if it is could still possibly be reversed would not help me right now.

Guess I agree with him, worrying over something that’s not confirmed as a long term problem wont help me or the family right now, so we battle on!, Now I have to go an relay this to Lewis and the rest of the family!

On a good note, at least with having a great nights sleep I am able to see this in a calmer frame of mind today, its amazing how sleeping makes such a difference to your outlook! - I had almost forgotten that feeling..

They are going to spend the day continuing to try and get her temp down even more and start a new set of tests so hopefully soon he can give me some answers.

Thanks

Alex

me again

There have been some more developments since my update, after cons spoke to me again cant really explain now, just need to go and see the doc again and then take some time out, as not entirely good news :-(

Good afternoon Alex, Lewis and Snowy. I look foward to getting news updates. So don't worry about posting them. I really apreciate when you started to add the day and time cos its really helpful. So glad snowy had astable night and you got some sleep. The school rush can be choatic sometimes my nephews dislike it when their mum made them late. She apologised to their teachers to make it right. You take one day at a time. Snowy surprised the crash doctor last night and i am glad. Let them get more stable surprises. IJN

Alex, wish I could be there to hold your hand or put a comforting arm around your shoulder. I just want to gather you up in my arms like I did for the children when they were little. Thank you for all the updates. We appreciate them very much and in some small way have probably helped you too. Know how my own husband worries at my slightest cold but completely unfazed and somehow held the family together when I broke my leg in two places, meaning two emergency ops. and afterwards with fetching and carrying. You, too, are a credit and to be admired.

Much love

Alex, so glad you got some sleep and Snowy had a stable night. As everyone else has said please do keep posting as long as you feel able to, I have been checking on here a lot recently and it's the first thing I check when I log on to see if there has been any news.

Sorry to hear though you've had some not so good news - I really hope the positive trend which seemed to be starting has continued and the not so good news was not too bad. Thinking of you all. xxx
