The only way to be sure is to see your GP and asthma nurse. Even if you don't have asthma it certainly sounds like you have a weakness there. Arrange for a chest x-ray. That much phlegm is not a good sign.
Also the coughing at night may be due to an allergy to dust mites. Despite how clean your bedding may be there are always mites especially in your pillow. Buy some anti-allergenic pillows.

Noone on here can diagnose whether you're asthmatic or not, usually, asthma is easily diagnosed by your GP. maybe make an appointment & explain your family history, & your symptoms, then go from there? 2 of your kids have it so I'd imagine u'd know how it gets diagnosed & whatnot.
I agree. Only a doctor can diagnose Asthma and if you do have it then you will be supported by the Asthma nurse and any other relevant people. Go get checked and let us know how you get on. x
