Co-codamol

Took some of DH's co-codamol 8/100 last night which helped with the sore back a bit, though not overnight. See earlier post.

Doc today prescribed the stronger co-codamol 30 instead. I've only had a total of 4 today (2 at 1 a.m. and 2 at 6 p.m.) and I do not feel fine. Colicky and feeling of 'not quite there'.

Wondering if its the stronger dose or down to being two different makes.

Hi Granny Mo,

Likely due to the stronger strength of codeine in it. It can make you feel woozy and spaced out, and it can make you constipated - hence the colic, I would think.

Hope your back feels better soon.

cathbear - thanks for replying.

Persevered with the co-codamol but made me feel so terribly ill and washed out.

Taking Nurofen instead and just being a bit careful not to overdo it.

PS. DH fills and empties dishwasher and feeds the cats to save me bending. Haven't the heart to tell him that movement doesn't really hurt me. :)

Smarties :-) for me anyway , take them as mild pain killer for my arthritus, but im so used to them , however when the wife wanted to try them for her period pain , she didnt do to well.try taking one at a time spaced out until you can except them easier, ive been on them for donkeys now the 30/500, but used to be on 90mg of codiene :-) there fun, but most pain killers have side effects , normally sickness ,and breathing problems with us asthma suffers, although you may find that you get a strange lactic acid ache through your body if you stop taking them , it may be that ive been on them for sometime now so the effect is well set in but be prepared for it,the stronger you go on pain killers the worse the syptoms get ,believe me..Gaz

By smarties, I assume you mean pred. That's a whole other story as you will find if you read my posts. Pred. Causes pressure on my eyes and I can't drive while taking them. Course that may be down to me taking them @ 2 x 4 times a day instead of as I know now, 8 x 1 times a day.

Off to GP this morning to see what else is around for pained backs.

hi, just read this. co-codamol makes me feel high as a kite so i dont take them anymore and they are similar to the other tablets i take for arthritis. to be honest tablets dont take the pain away but kind of take the edge of enough so that i can move at times. i take tramadol or DHC for my back, hips and siatica. they all make me tired but not taking them makes me so stiff that i cant move. i have to be careful as to which painkillers i take as i have problems with my stomach so i take mine with my stomach tablets...dont know if this helps lol but wort asking the doc for something stronger x
