Leaning back or lying on back

Does anyone else have problems with this? My throat seems to tickle more and my chest feels heavy like I can't breathe :(

When asthma isn't too good, lying flat on your back makes it more difficult to breath and is quite common to Asthma sufferers when unwell. When unwell it is better when sitting to sit supported by a pillow or even better one of those support pillows (v shaped ones), and likewise many sufferers when sleeping do this are supported by several pillows to take some of the pressure off the chest and make themselves more comfortable to sleep.

HI Kay

Try putting something under your bed to lift it up at the top'

This will stop you getting a stiff neck.

When your asthma is bad it is harder to breath lying down so hope this info helps.

Technically sleeping on your left side is preferred, giving the right lung which is bigger more room to work.

Oh dear Kay I know how you feel when i am wheezy i can't lie down at all and have mastered the art of sleeping upright. Its not as good a quality of sleep but better than none, i have hand stitched a patchwork quilt (double bed sized) in the nights when i can't lie down. I re read my favourite books and put 10mls of Simple linctus in half a cup of hot water to soothe my twitchy tubes. At first i used to get real mad that i couldn't lie down but am okay now have learnt to find the best in everything - not easy but does make a difference. Hope you get some good rest and can lie down soon, it does pass eventually but its so frustrating the in between bit, take good care, Lois
