Normally my heart rate is close to 120 unless I have been at rest for quite some time ie nodded off and my sat between 92 and 94 this is on oxy. When I find it at 94 I often come of the oxy to avoid co2 probs. I get breathless very quickly and so use ambulatory oxy too.
So far today I have been off oxy for the best part of 3 hours!!!!!! Heart rate 114 varying and sat 91 to 94 and I don't feel breathless at rest. I feel brighter and more alert - what is happening ???
Yes wahoooooo! good to hear and I too think its down to high or low pressure! a barometer would be good to have so you can keep a check on it! I beat the drum of 'being well' and it works for me lol!! keep on breathing easy and have a lovely weekend! xxx
Maybe the weather tells us more than we know .My dad suffered terribly with Rheumatoid Arthritis and when the pressure on the weather was low his condition worsened terribly and high pressure he felt a lot better, my mum had Emphysema/Bronchiectasis and she too felt better when the weather was high pressure, they are no longer with us I`m afraid but they sussed this out between themselves in the late Eighties/Nineties,as we lived in the country they went along with the weather for many things,as I know have C,O,P,D, myself along with my mum and her mum before her, I did not know it was hereditary. I hope this helps you a little x x
To homebreeze what do you mean by ...."When I find it at 94 I often come of the oxy to avoid co2 probs.2" please?
I am sensitive to oxygen, my oxy support is 2/3 litre. Blood gas measurements taken during several stays in hospital reveal that too much oxy support leads to co2 retention in my blood. It varies from person to person, it just happens that this is how it is for me.
Too high a level of co2 in the blood can have very serious consequences and at the extreme ultimately lead to death.
Early symptoms are slurred speech, headaches, possibly confusion my wife and I look out for these.
When my sat level is 94 and I am at rest I come off the oxygen to give my body more time to exhale the co2.
I imagine Gordon can give you more info and possibly links and things - he's a very knowledgable and helpful chap.
Hi home breeze, I am new to this site. I too am on O2 pretty much constantly, but I think I may have the same susceptibility as you. Before Christmas I went for a blood gas test and they said my the co2 was high and competing for O2 in my blood, were going to keep me in for cpac? Treatment for 24 hours with a mask over my face. This terrified me. They took another reading ans allowed me to go home for three weeks on home oxygen. Converter.when I went back they said my oxygen blood levels and co2 levels were ok. I am due to go back again on Wednesday. However since then I have been getting bad headaches and confused. I feel a pressure in my head and can hear my heart thumping in my ear. My oxygen levels vary from 92 - 98 . Is it bad if the O2 levels are high? I am very anxious about all this, I do not know what I am supposed to be doing. I am very breathless during walking and sometimes at rest, my oxygen is set to 2.5-3 on the machine. I hope you can help me to understand this as I am very frightened and confused about it all. Thanks.
My last answer just got swallowed.
