Hi, Can i ask please , How often do most people have a spirometry done ?
My spirometry test is done once a year 
I think it depends on the serverity of your copd, I have mild copd and i have it once a year.
Mine is every three months and I think Wozzer is right in saying it depends on severity.
Hi, Thanks for your replies , I have severe copd and the last time i had it done was 13 months ago and i am being told i dont need one which i didnt think could be right as i am going to be assesed for oxygen in febuary. 
Hi zaney to my knowledge, if you are under a consultant and you are stable it is usually an annual check. If you are unstable, ie persistent lung infections patients under a consultant get checks more often, 3 monthly, 4 monthly or other.
I get checked annually when I see the consultant and annually through my GP surgery. If you are not under a consultant I would ask your GP to refer you, also check in with BLF helpline to get their take on this.
Hope all goes well with your oxygen assessment. I do think you should be getting checked at least once a year.
Zoee, I am very severe but stable and I have had only one infection this year but I am seen by my respiratory nurse every three months and she always does a spirometry check. I think it must vary a lot according to geographical area as well as the severity.

You could well be right auntymary, also each patient is individually assessed I think depending what else is going on with them.
I have 1done every 3months with my asthma nurse ,as routine.
I have mild COPD and asthma and I have a spirometry test and my bloods done once a year.
