Well done. I'm similar to you - working on fitness and conditioning. I think it's important to do whatever you can to improve your chances at being healthier. I've not got COPD as such but I was diagnosed 18 months ago at the age of 40 with sarcoidosis and Bronchiectasis.

Hi

I am 43 and was diagnosed in March 2011, EMPHYSEMA showed up on a CT and chest Xray, I had the breathing test done July this year 79%fev1, I have boullis a lot in my right lung and some in my left lung.

I stopped smoking in 2010 before I even knew I had lung issues.

I'm not on any meds, get a bit wheezzy and breathless when I over do thing, I stay as active as possible.

When getting 80% fev 1 is normal hard to guess why they would be working tests and scans on you back in March of 11 in the US it would have me thinkin they were after more bucks but you guys dont get that. If the bullae aint big enough to work on then they wont hold you back from a normal life.

well done Wozzer1. Its great that you have stopped smoking and are excercising! I have been diagnosed with mild COPD about 2 years ago. I'm excercising more as well and working on giving up them fags. x

I'm 57 and I was diagnosed earlier this year after I had stopped smoking. I use Spiriva and feel much better than I did. I also do aerobic exercise as much as I can. I think it really helps.

Hey,,well done on stopping smoking...I am 37 and recently diagnosed with copd..have quit the fags (with the odd slip up after a glass of wine!!),I have adopted a healthier lifestyle, change of diet, starting the gym so on the whole feel much better..have some very breathless days and get very tired very quickly so I just take it easier on those days. Well done anyone who has stopped smoking. Hubby has sarcoidosis and copd but tries to stay as active as he possibly can. It does you good to keep moving if at all possible whatever you do. Gardening, walking, anything just keep on going!

Hi Wozzer - I was diagnosed with the Big E in 2000 and am still here, although E is a progressive disease - giving up the smokes (and booze!) along with good healthy food and regular exercise is the way to go. If there is a pulmonary rehab class near you - join it - it a 6 weeks well spent. If you experience an exacerbation then you need to take it seriously, as each time it weakens your lungs a little bit more.
